Eye Exam in Lady Lake
If it has been over a year since you have had an eye exam, contact us at Optical Outlets to see our top-notch eye doctor for a comprehensive eye exam. Eye exams are very important since there are many eye diseases that show no symptoms in the early stages. If you have recently had a vision screening at the Department of Motor Vehicles, or your child has had a vision screening at school, it does not take the place of having a comprehensive Lady Lake eye exam.
When you have a vision screening when you get your driver’s license, the Department of Motor Vehicles will usually check to make sure that you can see clearly at a certain distance. Sometimes your peripheral vision will be checked, as well. However, even if you pass the vision screening it does not mean that your eyes are healthy. And, if your child has had a vision screening at school, it probably only means that they can see clearly to the front of the room. During our Lady Lake eye exam, your eyes will not only be checked for their visual acuity, but your eyes will also be screened to make sure that they do not have any eye diseases or disorders. Glaucoma is an eye disease which shows no symptoms in the early stages.
If glaucoma is not caught in the early stages, you may unfortunately suffer with permanent vision damage caused by optic nerve damage. However, if glaucoma is caught early during an eye exam, our optometrist can write you a prescription for eye drops which will most likely keep the glaucoma from advancing. During our eye exams, your eyes will be screened for many eye diseases including: glaucoma; cataracts; macular degeneration; diabetic retinopathy; retinal tears; and other problems of the cornea, macula, and retina. Your eyes will also be checked for any refractive errors such as nearsightedness, or farsightedness, or astigmatism. Refractive errors can be corrected with eyeglasses or contact lenses.
